Overview

The basics

  • Additional cardholders. Add up to 99 additional cardholders for employees. An additional annual fee of $79 p.a. will apply per card.
  • Digital wallets. This card can be used for purchases on your phone with Apple Pay, Google Pay and Samsung Pay.
  • Gambling transactions. This card cannot be used for gambling (which applies for all other Amex cards).

Rewards and benefits

  • Complimentary travel insurance. The American Express Business Card comes with complimentary travel insurance for up to $150,000 of cover against accidents resulting in loss of limb, sight, or life while in transit on business trips that commence and end in Australia. Cover is active on trips paid for using the card.
  • Concierge services. The American Express Business Card does not come with access to a concierge service.
  • Rewards points. Earn 1.5 Membership Rewards points per $1 on all purchases — except cash advances — with the American Express Business Card. ATO spend earns rewards at the rate of 1 Membership Rewards points per $1.
  • Sign up bonus. There is currently no welcome bonus for signing up for the American Express Business Card.

Rates and fees

  • Annual fee. This card's ongoing annual fee is $109, which is tax deductible.
  • Balance transfers. American Express do not currently have a balance transfer available for this card.
  • Cash advances. The standard cash advance rate of 21.74% p.a. will apply to all cash advances made with your card. A cash advance fee will apply to any cash advances you make in addition to interest.
  • Foreign exchange fee. Purchases made in a foreign currency attract a fee of 3%.
  • Interest-free period. This card offers a 51 day interest-free period on purchases when you pay the balance in full.
  • Purchases rate. There are no introductory offers on purchases. Purchases made with the card will not attract any interest — because it's a charge card — and the balance must be repaid in full each statement period.
