ANZ REWARDS GUIDE

ANZ Business Rewards is a loyalty program offered by ANZ Bank to business customers in Australia and New Zealand. The program aims to reward business owners for everyday spending on an ANZ business credit card.

Earning ANZ Business Rewards Points

ANZ Business Rewards Points can be earned using an eligible ANZ business credit card for everyday purchases. Points can be redeemed for a range of rewards, including flights, gift cards, cashback and merchandise.

Sign up for an ANZ Business Rewards credit card

New ANZ business credit card customers can earn substantial sign up bonuses when they apply and are approved for an eligible card. Bonuses vary over time and generally involve using the card to spend a certain amount within a limited time.

Eligible business spending

ANZ Business Rewards Points can be earned for various business expenses, including travel, office supplies, and utilities. Some transactions, such as cash advances and balance transfers, do not qualify for points. However, payments to the ATO do qualify, but at half the normal earning rate for other eligible purchases. Other government payments do not qualify. A full list of eligible expenses can be found on ANZ's website.

Redeeming ANZ Business Rewards Points

ANZ Business Rewards Points can be redeemed for a range of rewards, including flights, gift cards, cashback and merchandise. Points can be redeemed through ANZ's online rewards portal. In more detail, the redemption possibilities are:

  • Flights with participating airlines
  • Gift cards from a range of retailers
  • A cash credit to your ANZ Business Rewards Credit Card account
  • Merchandise from the ANZ Business Rewards store

Transfer partners

Being able to transfer ANZ Business Rewards Points to several different airlines is one of the key benefits of the program. You'll know what I mean if you've tried booking a points seat between two large cities — it's easier said than done.

  • Air New Zealand. 200 Business Rewards Points = 1 Airpoints Dollar
  • Cathay Pacific. 3 Business Rewards Points = 1 Asia Mile
  • Qantas. 2 ANZ Business Rewards Points = 1 Qantas Frequent Flyer Point
  • Singapore Airlines. 3 Business Rewards Points = 1 KrisFlyer Mile
  • Virgin Australia. 2 ANZ Business Rewards Points = 1 Velocity Frequent Flyer Point

FAQs

Can I earn ANZ Business Rewards Points with an ANZ personal credit card?

No. ANZ Business Rewards Points can only be earned with an eligible ANZ Business Rewards Credit Card.

Can I transfer my ANZ Business Rewards Points to another person?

No. ANZ Business Rewards Points cannot be transferred to another person.

Do ANZ Business Rewards Points expire?

Business Reward Points must be used to claim a reward within 36 months of 31st December of the year in which they were earned. Rewards Points that remain unused after that period will be cancelled. Also, if you close your ANZ Business Rewards account by cancelling your points-earning credit card, any unused business Rewards Points must be used within 90 days of the closure date.

Is the ANZ Business Rewards program the same as the ANZ Rewards program?

No. ANZ Business Rewards Points are earned using ANZ Business Credit Cards. ANZ Rewards Points are earned using ANZ personal credit cards. They are separate points programs, and points earned in them cannot be merged into a single account. The main difference between the two programs is that ANZ Business Rewards Points can be earned on payments to the ATO, but ANZ Rewards Points cannot. As well, Qantas is added to the list of airline partners for ANZ Business Rewards only. The two programs have separate online rewards stores for points redemption purposes, although redemption rates are the same.

Is ANZ Business Rewards worth it?

Given that ANZ Business Rewards Credit Cards have both an annual card fee and an annual rewards program fee, whether or not the ANZ Business Rewards program is worth it for a business owner depends on their circumstances and spending patterns. Business owners should consider the cost of their ANZ business credit card and their spending habits when deciding whether to participate in the program.

Do remember, however, to factor in any other benefits that come with an ANZ Business Rewards Credit Card, which may include the sign up bonus points, waived annual fees, and domestic and international travel insurance.
