The basics

  • Additional cardholders. Additional cardholders are supported, but at the cost of $5 p.a. per card. That's not a lot if it means being able to put more spending through the account and more Airpoints earned. Note that Airpoints will accrue under the primary cardholder, not the additional cardholder.
  • Digital wallets. This card is compatible with Apple Pay and Google Pay but does not support Samsung Pay.
  • Gambling transactions. Gambling transactions are allowed and will be classified as a cash advance, attracting interest and earning no Airpoints.

Rewards and benefits

  • Complimentary travel insurance. The ANZ Airpoints Visa Platinum Credit Card has complimentary international travel insurance coverage, which is in effect when the card was used to purchase tickets. Terms and conditions apply.
  • Concierge services. Cardholders have access to the Visa Concierge, a service available round the clock for assistance with tasks like travel bookings, restaurant reservations, price comparisons, etc.
  • Insurances. This card offers fraud protection, but lacks other insurance covering purchases, refunds, accidental loss, etc. That's normal for a card at this level.
  • Rewards points. The ANZ Airpoints Visa Platinum Credit Card offers an earn rate of 0.013 Airpoints Dollars per $1 (or 1 Airpoints Dollar per $110) spent on eligible purchases, both domestically and overseas. There is no cap or tier on the earn rate. You can get up to 200 Airpoints Dollars in advance, which is useful if you have your eye on a redemption but don't have enough in your account to cover it.
  • Sign up bonus. ANZ offers a sign up bonus of 2,000 Airpoints Dollars if you spend $1000 on eligible purchases within the first 3 months. Terms and conditions apply.
  • Status points. Earn 50% more bonus Status Points on qualifying flights with Air New Zealand, which excludes flights booked with Airpoints Dollars.

Rates and fees

  • Annual fee. This card comes with an annual fee of $150 p.a. This is around the average for an Airpoints-earning card.
  • Balance transfers. There is currently no balance transfer offer available on this card.
  • Cash advances. Cash advances will attract interest at 19.95% p.a., with interest being applied immediately from the date of each transaction. This card has no cash advance fee. Note that cash advances will not earn Airpoints.
  • Foreign exchange fee. This card will incur a 2.5% fee for online or overseas transactions.
  • Interest-free period. You can enjoy up to 44 days interest-free on purchases (except cash advances) when you have paid off your previous balance or made the minimum required payment by the due date.
  • Purchases. The ANZ Airpoints Visa Platinum Credit Card has no introductory offer on purchases. Purchases will be charged interest of 19.95% p.a. ongoing. This rate is typical of rewards cards like this.
