The basics

  • Additional cardholders. Each additional cardholder costs a $5 p.a. annual fee.
  • Digital wallets. This card is compatible with Apple Pay and Google Pay but not Samsung Pay.
  • Gambling transactions. Gambling transactions are allowed with the ANZ Cashback Visa Credit Card. They'll be classified as a cash advance, so are not eligible for cashback.

Rewards and benefits

  • Complimentary travel insurance. Being an entry-level card, the ANZ Cashback Visa Credit Card does not offer complimentary international travel insurance.
  • Concierge services. Concierge services are not available for cardholders.
  • Insurances. There are no additional insurances, such as those covering refunds or accidental damage and loss. That's not surprising given it's an entry-level card.
  • Rewards points. Customers can earn $1 cashback for every $150 spent on eligible purchases made with the card. There is no cap on the amount of cashback that can be earned each month or year. Cashback does not expire and can be redeemed for a variety of products and services. This is targeted at people who want rewards but not the complexity associated with frequent flyer programs.
  • Sign up bonus. ANZ does not offer a sign up bonus on this card.

Rates and fees

  • Annual fee. The ongoing annual fee for this card is a relatively low $40 p.a.
  • Balance transfers. There is no current balance transfer offer for this card.
  • Cash advances. It's 19.95% p.a. on cash advances. Interest accrues immediately from the date of the transaction. There is no separate cash advance fee. Cash advances are not eligible for cashback.
  • Foreign exchange fee. All overseas and online transactions made in a foreign currency will incur a 2.5% fee, which is around the market average.
  • Interest-free period. Offers up to 55 days of interest-free purchases (except cash advances) when the previous full balance or minimum repayment has been paid.
  • Purchases. There is no introductory offer on purchases with this card. All purchases will incur interest at 19.95% p.a. This rate, although high, is similar to what other rewards card charge. As a result, carrying a balance will quickly negate the value of any cashback earned.
