The basics

  • Additional cardholders. Get up to 5 additional cards for a business partner or employees, paying a $25 p.a. per each additional card.
  • Digital wallets. In New Zealand, Westpac supports Google Pay and Apple Pay, but no other digital wallets.
  • Gambling transactions. Westpac allows gambling transactions, which will be treated as cash advances.

Rewards and benefits

  • Complimentary travel insurance. The Westpac Airpoints Business Mastercard offers complimentary overseas travel insurance for up to 35 days. Terms and conditions apply.
  • Concierge services. Comes with access to personalized concierge services — available 24/7 from anywhere in the world — as part of Mastercard Travel & Lifestyle Services. Use the concierge to compare prices, make travel arrangements, book appointments, etc. It's an oft-overlooked feature that can be very handy once you get used to using it.
  • Insurances. This card comes with up to 35 days of overseas travel insurance, purchase protection, and extended warranty insurance on purchases.
  • Rewards points. The Westpac Airpoints Business Mastercard enables you to earn uncapped Airpoints Dollars at the rate of 1 Airpoint Dollars for every $85 of qualified business spending.
  • Sign-up bonus. There is no sign-up bonus offer on this card right now.

Rates and fees

  • Annual fee. Westpac charges an annual fee of $145 for this card which must be paid in 2 six-monthly installments of $72.50.
  • Balance transfers. This card offers a 5.95% p.a. balance transfer offer for the duration of the balance transferred. This offers quite a contrast with the way how most banks treat balance transfers after the grace period, reverting to a much higher cash advances or purchase rate.
  • Cash advances. Cash advances made on the Westpac Airpoints Business Mastercard will be charged interest at 22.95% p.a., with interest beginning to accrue immediately. No cash advance fees on this credit card.
  • Foreign exchange fee. This card charges a 2.50% foreign exchange fee for purchases made in a foreign currency, either overseas or online.
  • Interest-free period. You can take advantage of up to 44 days interest-free on purchases (excluding cash advances) when you have paid your previous balance in full by the due date.
  • Purchases. There is currently no introductory offer on purchases with this card. Cardholders will get an ongoing rate of 20.95% p.a. for purchases.
