  • Additional cardholders. You can get additional cardholders on this card for $25 p.a. in two instalments of $12.50.
  • Digital wallets. Westpac credit cards in New Zealand support Google Pay and Apple Pay, but no other digital wallets.
  • Gambling transactions. Westpac Airpoints Platinum Mastercard allows gambling transactions, but they are treated as cash advances.

Rewards and benefits

  • Complimentary travel insurance. The Westpac Airpoints Platinum Mastercard offers complimentary international travel insurance with coverage of up to 35 days per round trip.
  • Concierge services. The Westpac Airpoints Platinum Mastercard does not come with a concierge service.
  • Insurances. This card comes with purchase protection and mobile phone protection.
  • Rewards points. Earn uncapped Airpoints Dollars at 1 Airpoint Dollar per $110 spent up to $7,000, reverting to 1 Airpoints Dollar per $220 in qualified spending.
  • Sign-up bonus. There is no sign-up bonus offer on this card right now.
  • Status points. You can also earn Status Points at the rate of 1 Status Point per $225 on eligible purchases.

Rates and fees

  • Annual fee. Westpac charges an annual fee of $125 for this card, which must be paid in advance in 2 six-monthly instalments.
  • Balance transfers. Consolidate debt from non-Westac credit and store cards at 5.95% p.a. for life, which differs from how most banks treat balance transfers (with remaining debt reverting to the cash advance or purchase rate).
  • Cash advances. Cash advances made on the Westpac Airpoints Platinum Mastercard will be charged interest at 22.95% p.a., with interest beginning to accrue immediately. A one-off cash advance fee will be charged too. It's neither the cheapest credit card cash advance nor the most expensive.
  • Foreign exchange fee. This card charges a 1.95% fee for purchases made in a foreign currency, either overseas or online.
  • Interest-free period. Take advantage of up to 44 days interest-free on purchases (excluding cash advances) when you have paid your previous balance in full by the due date.
  • Purchases. With no introductory offer on purchases, purchases will attract the ongoing rate of 20.95% p.a.
