The basics

  • Additional cardholders. Get the first additional cardholder for free. Any additional cards have a $100 p.a. fee due in two instalments of $50.
  • Digital wallets. Supports Google Pay and Apple Pay only.
  • Gambling transactions. Can be used for gambling transactions, but Westpac will treat them like cash advances.

Rewards and benefits

  • Complimentary travel insurance. The Westpac hotpoints World Mastercard comes with 120 days of overseas travel insurance per round trip.
  • Concierge services. This card comes with a concierge service and access to a range of travel experiences and privileges with Mastercard Travel and Lifestyle Services.
  • Insurances. Get extended warranty of up to 12 months on goods purchases with the card. Also has purchase protection insurance against loss, theft, and accidental damage to goods purchased with the card.
  • Lounge passes. Comes with Priority Pass, giving cardholders access to more than 1,300 airport lounges around the globe.

  • Sign up bonus. There is no sign up bonus offer on this card.

Rates and fees

  • Annual fee. There is an annual fee of $285 p.a. due every six months in $142.50 instalments. The fee will be refunded if more than $50,000 is spent in the previous six-monthly period. This is the most expensive credit card that earns hotpoints.
  • Balance transfers. This card offers 5.95% p.a. for life on balance transfers from non-Westpac credit and store cards.
  • Cash advances. Cash advances — or cash equivalent / quasi-cash transactions such as gambling or buying traveller's cheques — will be charged interest at 22.95% p.a. As with most cash advances, interest accrues immediately from the transaction date. However, there is no cash advance fee.
  • Foreign exchange fee. This card charges a 1.95% fee for purchases and advances made in a foreign currency, either overseas in person or online.
  • Interest-free period. Take advantage of up to 55 days interest-free on purchases (excluding cash advances) when you have paid your previous balance in full or made the minimum required payment.
  • Purchases. Cardholders will get an ongoing rate of 20.95% p.a. for purchases made with the card.
