Amplify Rewards guide

Amplify Rewards is the rewards program offered by three banks — Bank of Melbourne, BankSA, and St.George. Members qualify for a host of benefits.

Scroll down for details on earning, redeeming and transferring Amplify Rewards points.

Key takeaways

  • Amplify Rewards is a rewards program that allows you to earn loyalty points redeemable for travel, gift cards and consumer merchandise on everyday purchases made with a linked credit or debit card.
  • Earn rewards from everyday spending at supermarkets, restaurants, department stores, etc.
  • Transfer your rewards to airline loyalty programs, such as Virgin Australia, to use for booking flights, upgrades, and other perks.
  • The program is easy to navigate and allows you to track your rewards balance and redemption history.

Earning Amplify Rewards points

Since it's a credit card rewards program, it shouldn't come as a surprise that earning Amplify Rewards points involves spending with a credit card.

Sign up for an Amplify Rewards credit card

Sign-up bonuses are regularly available on most credit cards with Amplify Rewards, which are available from BankSA, Bank of Melbourne, and St.George.

How to earn points through everyday spending

Points can be earned on eligible purchases made with an Amplify Rewards credit card. The number of points earned per dollar spent will vary depending on the card type and the purchase category.

  • ATO payments – and other government payments – do not earn Amplify Rewards points.
  • Balance transfers do not earn Amplify Rewards points.
  • Cash advances do not earn Amplify Rewards points.
  • Other cash equivalents, such as purchases of foreign currency, do not earn Amplify Rewards points.

Redeeming Amplify Rewards points

Amplify Rewards members have a wide range of redemption options to choose from, including flights, hotels, merchandise, statement credits to offset the credit card's annual fee and airline frequent flyer points transfers.

Flights, hotels, and other travel

Members can redeem their points for flights, hotels, and other travel-related expenses through the Amplify Rewards travel booking service. This service allows members to search for and book flights, hotels, and car rentals using their points.

Frequent flyer points transfers

Amplify Rewards can be converted into frequent flyer points or miles with Virgin Australia and Singapore Airlines. You will receive 1.0 Velocity Points or 1.0 KrisFlyer Miles for each 2.0 Amplify Rewards points you transfer, with a minimum transfer amount of 3,000 Amplify Rewards points.

Merchandise and gift cards

In addition to travel, members can redeem their points for a wide range of merchandise and gift cards through the Amplify Rewards online store. This includes popular retailers, department stores and online retailers, movie tickets and other entertainment.

Statement credits

Members can also redeem their points for statement credits to offset their card's annual fee.

Transfer partners

Points earned with Amplify Rewards can be transferred to their airline transfer partners, Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer and Velocity Frequent Flyer.

  • Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer. Transfer 2 Amplify Rewards points to 1 KrisFlyer Mile.
  • Velocity Frequent Flyer. Transfer 2 Amplify Rewards points to 1 Velocity Point.

How to transfer points to partners

Transferring points from Amplify Rewards to one of their partners is easy. Here's a step-by-step guide.

  1. Log into your Amplify Rewards account and select the option to transfer points.
  2. Select the program to which you wish to transfer points.

  • Many thousands of sign-up bonus points
  • An annual birthday bonus equal to 10% of the points earned in the preceding year
  • Complimentary domestic and overseas travel insurance
  • Airport lounge passes

FAQs

How much is an Amplify point worth?

It depends on which form of redemption you choose. As a general rule, rewards or frequent flyer points redeemed for merchandise or gift cards are worth 0.5 cents or less. Long-haul flights or premium fares may return 1.5 cents per point, or even more.

Can you swap between Amplify Rewards and Qantas Frequent Flyer points?

Yes. When you apply for the card you must nominate which points program you want to join: Amplify or Qantas.
