Great Southern Bank was once known as CUA, which is the acronym for Credit Union Australia, a mutual bank owned by its members, not by shareholders. It’s Australia’s largest member-owned financial institution, formed from a series of mergers of smaller credit unions and tracing its history back to 1946.
Its head office is in Brisbane, but it has more than 50 branches around Australia, employing over 1,000 staff and serving over 500,000 customers. Great Southern Bank offers bank deposit and transaction accounts, credit cards, home loans, personal loans, a wide range of insurance products, financial planning and superannuation.
