Phillip Bryan Schofield was born on 1 April 1962 in Oldham, Greater Manchester. He grew up in Newquay, Cornwall with his younger brother Tim, who looks remarkably like him.
Education
Schofield started his education by attending Trenance Infant School and then moved on to Newquay Tretherras Secondary School.
His family moved to New Zealand when he was 17. He did not continue his education while there.
In 2017, he was awarded the Honorary Degree of Doctor of Arts (D.Arts) by the University of Plymouth.

Phillip started his broadcasting career at 15 by volunteering to do a radio show in Derriford Hospital, Plymouth. At 17, he became a booking clerk for BBC Radio. His family moved to New Zealand when Phillip was in his teens, but that did not stop him from pursuing a career in media. During his 2.5-year stay in New Zealand, he presented the youth music show "Shazam!" and worked for two years at "Radio Hauraki".
On his return to the UK, in 1985, he became a continuity presenter for "Children´s BBC". He was the first person to fulfill this role in vision.
Schofield did such a good job that he was asked to present the BBC's top Saturday morning children's show, "Going Live". Kids loved the show, so Phillip was also able to earn from making personal appearances.
