Chris Hemsworth is an Australian actor who is best known for his portrayal of Thor, the Norse god, turned Marvel superhero. A real Hollywood heartthrob, it’s hard not to love him. Even when he played the troubled, overweight, binge-drinking, video game playing, version of Thor in Avengers: Endgame, his good looks and personality still shone through.
Born on August 11, 1983 in Melbourne, Australia, Chris Hemsworth’s career as an actor started with a minor appearance in several TV programs, including Guinevere Jones, Neighbours, Marshal Law, and The Saddie Club. His portrayal of Kim Hyde in Home and Away, an Australian soap opera, is what really launched his career.
He was also a contestant on the fifth season of Dancing with the Stars Australia, which almost cost him the role of Thor, as the producers of the film franchise were concerned that his appearance in the cheeky reality show would turn off fans.
In 2011, Hemsworth's acting career — and his life — changed forever when he was cast as the lead in Thor. He gained 20 pounds of muscle for the role and played the part perfectly.
In early 2010, he met and started dating Elsa Pataky, a Spanish model. The two were wed in December of 2010, and in 2012, they welcomed a baby girl, and in 2014, twin sons joined their family.
With so much on his plate, you might be wondering how he does it all. The following is an overview of his daily routine.
A day in the life of Chris Helsworth
Mornings
Hemsworth wakes up at about 8 am. He starts the day with a protein shake, eats a light breakfast, and spends some quality time with his wife and three kids.
Once he gets going, Hemsworth’s first port of call is the gym for his morning workout routine.
Maintaining his physique is an important part of his daily and professional life. Even when he isn’t playing Thor or another character that requires him to be in peak shape, Hemsworth still trains on a daily basis and prioritizes his health.
His exercise routine varies. In order to work out all parts of his body – and to prevent boredom – Hemsworth regularly switches between weightlifting, bodyweight circuits, cardio, and iron circuits.
Afternoons
Once he’s finished his workout, he refuels with a well-balanced, protein-filled lunch, which includes amino acids, vegetables, essential vitamins, and minerals.
After lunch, he tends to personal obligations, checks in with the family, or just relaxes. About three hours later, he eats another well-balanced meal, which includes fruits, more green vegetables, legumes, nuts, etc.
Once he’s digested, he may do another quick workout, which can include things like battle ropes, medicine ball throws, kettlebells, high-resistance bungee, and hanging raises.
In all, Hemsworth eats eight square meals a day, which is totally understandable given his physique.
Evenings
In the evening, he often has social engagements to attend, such as appearances on talk shows and interviews. This is when he also likes to hang out with his friends when he gets the chance. Of course, kicking back and relaxing with his wife and three kiddos are always a top priority.
Prior to turning in for the night, Hemsworth usually snacks on some fruit and takes some supplements.
After his bedtime snack, he’ll turn in for the night, which he tries to do at a decent hour every night to make sure he gets enough rest.
