Born on February 17, 1963, Michael Jeffrey Jordan is arguably the greatest American basketball player of all time.
In fact, his biography on the National Basketball Association website reads: “By acclamation, Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player of all time.” He played a vital role in bringing the NBA to the world stage, and his incredible talent coupled with his award-winning personality made him a cultural icon.
In 2014, Jordan achieved another milestone when he became the NBA's first billionaire.
Now retired, Michael Jordan still remains active in the world of basketball, and will always be a legend.
Wondering what a day in the life of Michael Jordan is like? Here’s a snapshot of the legendary basketball player’s daily routine.
Michael Jordan is a relatively early riser. He enjoys rising with the sun so that he can make the most of the day.
When he wakes up, he jumps right into his workout routine, which includes weight lifting, cardio, and other strength and stamina training. He also does injury-prevention exercises.
After his warmup, Michael enjoys a big, hearty breakfast featuring healthy and fulfilling dishes, prepared by his personal chef.
Examples of some of the items on his breakfast menu include oatmeal with a mix of blueberries, strawberries, and raisins, and scrambled egg whites washed down with a glass of fresh orange juice. MJ also enjoys a fitness shake, made with a blend of Gatorade, protein powder, and fresh fruit.
Jordan’s afternoon activities vary from day to day. Sometimes, he enjoys some downtime on his own, or he may head out to the golf course to play his second favorite sport.
Afternoons are generally when he also attends to business, which might include meetings, interviews, and photoshoots (even though he’s retired, he still remains the topic of interest in the world of professional sports).
Jordan likes to recharge with an afternoon nap.
At some point in the afternoon, he has lunch. Menu items vary: a sandwich of lean hamburger or chicken breast, pasta or a baked potato, and a salad of mixed greens and veggies, for example. He also recharges his batteries with a mid-afternoon snack, which might include chicken breast or a lean steak, pasta or a baked potato, freshly steamed vegetables, or a fitness shake.
In the evening hours, Michael Jordan takes time to work on himself, physically and spiritually. He’ll work out, meditate, or enjoy a massage. He may meet up with buddies to play ball or attend to obligations, such as the Hornet’s games, and social events. At some point in the evening, he’ll have dinner, which, according to his one-time trainer, Tim Grover, consists of, “whatever he wants.”
He is a family man and likes to spend as much time as he possibly can with his wife and kids. In the evenings, he and his wife, Yvette Prieto, like to do “couple-y” things, like going to the movies or a restaurant, or just hanging out.
