Jamie Oliver's estimated net worth is $288 million.
He is a professional chef, cookbook writer, TV personality, accomplished public speaker, and former restaurant owner.
Oliver is the second richest professional chef in the world. Only Kimbal Musk, who is the co-founder of The Kitchen Community has made more money out of cooking than Jamie Oliver.
Early life
James Trevor Oliver was born on 27 May 1975, in Clavering, Essex. His parents Trevor and Sally Oliver owned the local pub/restaurant, which was called The Cricketers. It was well known in the area for its fantastic, often locally sourced, food. For example, their menu included Braughing Sausages.
From a young age, Jamie loved cooking. He regularly cooked in the pub´s kitchens and was a good chef even before he received any formal training.
Education
Until the age of 11, Jamie Oliver was educated locally. At 11, he attended the Newport Free Grammar school in Essex. He left with a GCSE in Art and another in Geology.
As soon as he could, Jamie began formal training to become a chef. He enrolled at Westminster Technical College, which is now known as Westminster Kingsway College, when he was 16. Reportedly, he was a diligent student who easily earned his City & Guilds (NVQ) for food preparation and cooking.
From there he went on to work as an apprentice chef at several London restaurants — roles in which he was unlikely to have earned very much.
How did Jamie Oliver build his net worth?
At 19, Jamie worked as the pastry chef at Antonio Carluccio’s Neal Street restaurant. Carluccio became his mentor and a close friend.
But Jamie eventually left to work at the River Café. While there, he was “spotted” during the filming of a documentary about the restaurant. This led to him being offered his own TV show, “The Naked Chef”. The first episode was shown in 1999.
This was when he was able to go from earning to pay the bills to earning enough to save and invest. He has since gone on to make more than 40 cooking shows, specials, and documentaries.
Despite being dyslexic, Jamie is an accomplished author with sales of more than 14 million books. This has generated a profit of more than £180 million.
Jamie is also an accomplished public speaker who charges around £150,000 per appearance. His TED Prize speech, which has inspired thousands to change the way they eat, has been viewed more than 1.3 million times on YouTube alone.
He and his wife Juliette have 5 children and are close to their extended families. In 2019, they bought a 16th-century mansion in Finchingfield, Essex for a reported £6 million in order to be closer to their families. They kept their London property, which is worth around £8.9 million.
Despite experiencing difficulties with some of his business ventures, Jamie Oliver has grown his estimated net worth from circa £133.8 million, in 2017 to £229.3 million, in 2022.
Since he is still extremely popular, there really is no reason to think that Jamie will not continue to grow his net worth in the years to come.
