Early life
Josep “Pep” Guardiola Sala was born in Santpedor, Spain, on January 18, 1971. He was the third child and first son born to Valenti, a bricklayer, and Dolors, who stayed home to raise her family. His father worked on building sites and didn’t stop until he was 66. Pep's parents still live in Santpedor, vowing never to leave the sleepy village that helped their son start his career.
Guardiola has two older sisters and a younger brother, Pere, who is widely known as one of the best football agents in the world. Guardiola was a football fan from an early age, playing whenever he could. He often worked as a ball boy at local matches and, at 13, was inducted into the youth academy of Barcelona.
Education
Not much is known about Pep’s education. We know his football career began at 13 after a boyhood obsession with the beautiful game. His first position was as a defender. He would spend the next six years perfecting his game and rising through the ranks with Johan Cruyff as the youth team’s coach. In 1990, at 19, Guardiola played his debut game against Cádiz, and a legend was born.
Pep’s first official season with Barcelona was 199-1992, and he quickly became a key player on what came to be known as “the dream team.” Barcelona won La Liga in 1991 and 1992 and the Euro Cup in 1992, with Pep receiving a special mention in an article on the club’s winning streak in the Italian sports magazine, “Guerin Sportivo.” The article described Pep as the best footballer under 21.
Family life
Guardiola met the love of his life, Cristina Serra, when he was 18. The pair married years later in 2014 at a quiet ceremony in Catalonia and now have three children, two girls and a boy; Maria, Màrius, and Valentina.

How did Pep Guardiola build his net worth?
Guardiola achieved many successes as a player before beginning his coaching career in 2007.
In 1992, Pep Guardiola played in the World Cup qualifier and led the Spanish national team to win an Olympic gold medal. In addition, he received the Bravo Award as the world's best under-21 footballer and played on the 1994 Spanish World Cup team.
Guardiola became captain of Barcelona, the dream team, in 1997, though injuries kept him off the field for most of that season and the next. By 1998, Guardiola had caught the eye of many European football clubs that vied for his attention with lucrative packages. Barcelona succeeded in signing Guardiola up for another term ending in 2001.
Pep left Barcelona in 2001 after his contract; he told the press he did not know where he would play next but that he had a passion for English teams. During the time he played for Barcelona, the team earned 16 major trophies. Between 2001 and 2008, Pep moved to several European groups, but he was plagued by injury and drug charges. As a result, he retired from playing in 2006.
In 2007, Pep returned to Barcelona, coaching the B team. He coached the A team a year later, and Barcelona hit a winning streak of 20 matches, becoming the top La Liga team. By 2010, Pep became known as the world's best football coach, with a winning ratio of 71:10. He moved on to other major football teams, including Bayern Munich and Sheikh Mansour's cashed-up Manchester City. During a sabbatical in 2013, when he was hired to coach Bayern Munich, his urge to learn German made him practice the language for four to five hours daily, proving his dedication.
Most of Pep's wealth is through playing and coaching football, though he has made some lucrative endorsement deals, most notably with Puma and Nissan. His 2018-2021 deal with City was reportedly worth $19m a year, and he is expected to pocket $55m from the agreement.
How has Pep Guardiola spent his wealth?

Pep drives a Nissan electric car. He is a notoriously bad driver, having crashed cars worth £460,000 since 2016. He is said to now drive an S8, a car manufactured by Audi whose price is currently at $170,000.
Pep Guardiola gives generously to charity. He recently donated $1.1 million for medical supplies during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Catalan has also promoted Man City's Community project, and the grey cashmere Herno hoodie he wore during the 2018-19 season raised £6,000 in an auction. He has also participated in charity golf and football tournaments to help raise funds.
