How has Hillary Clinton spent her wealth?
Hillary Clinton has made several smart investments through suggestions from her friends and on her own. Her investments in the Whitewater real estate development were a loss for her, money-wise and in terms of negative publicity earned.
Upon leaving the Whitehouse at the end of Bill Clinton's second Presidential term, she purchased real estate in New York valued at nearly $2 million.
Hillary Clinton, together with Bill Clinton, has been supporting the fundraising efforts of the Clinton Foundation since leaving public service. In 2015 alone, the Clintons gave $1 million to the Clinton Family Foundation and $42,000 to the Desert Classic Charities. She faced criticism for using her public profile as Secretary of State for fundraising. Initially established by Bill Clinton in 1997 to raise funds for his presidential archive in Little Rock, Arkansas, the Clinton Foundation has since become a complex global philanthropic organization that works on improving health and prospects in dozens of countries around the globe and fighting climate change. Now named the "Bill, Hillary & Chelsea Clinton Foundation," it is a public charity mostly raising money from other people and foundations.
The organization spends money on reducing costs and increasing the availability of medicine for HIV, malaria, and other infections in developing countries. It is also involved in many other causes, including helping farmers in Africa increase yields — and profits — and stopping poachers from killing elephants. It also "encourages American parents to read to their toddlers and schools to provide healthier environments for their students." Clinton Foundation also works on helping Americans get access to loans for making homes more energy efficient. Much of the foundation's work was focused on pandemic-related activity in 2020. The latest Clinton Global Initiative will focus on new health and security concerns.
