How did Larry David build his net worth?
Larry David has built up his net worth as a comedian, actor, writer, and producer so well that he is worth an estimated $400 million.
In 1980, David met Michael Richards of "Seinfeld" fame when he wrote his first comedy for ABC's "Fridays." Writing for "Saturday Night Live" was where he met Julia Louis Dreyfus. The rest is history as "Seinfeld," starring Jerry Seinfeld, Julia Louis Dreyfuss, Jason Alexander, Michael Richards, and a cast of others, went on to win him two primetime Emmys and, on syndication, earned him an estimated $250 million in 1998 alone. This is on top of what he made writing 62 episodes of the No.1 hit TV show.
The original "Seinfeld" syndication deal was for $1.7 billion, so he has a way to go before the dollars from that deal cease pouring into his bank account.
David also earned $75 million for selling "Seinfeld" to Netflix in 2019 for more than half a billion dollars, not to mention the $80 million he pocketed when he sold the rights to Hulu in 2015.
"Curb Your Enthusiasm," another hit for David, premiered in 2000. It is not known what David made to write, star, and produce this comedic gem but suffice it to say "If I were a rich man" would not be his theme song.
Strangely enough, David disclaims that he is worth that much, saying that his ex-wife got at least half of what he had in their divorce.
How has Larry David spent his wealth?
Larry David owned but never lived in a French Normandy-style cottage in the affluent Santa Barbara County enclave of Montecito, which he bought for more than $5.7 million. In 11 months, he had pocketed an astounding $1.2 million profit by making a quick sale to an unknown elderly couple.
He and Julia Louis Dreyfus each own half of a $5 million eco-friendly vacation home on Miramar Beach.
The New York Post reports that he lives in his primary residence in the Pacific Palisades, where he lives with his second wife, Ashley Underwood. He can also boast of owning two other homes in the area. In addition, he has a retreat in Martha's Vineyard.
There are many references to the cars David drives in "Curb Your Enthusiasm," but not we couldn't find any verifiable source of what he drives in real life.
In an interview with CBS News, he noted that he lost about half of his wealth following his 2007 divorce, so we guess that could classify as "spending."
