Nayel Nassar is an Egyptian-American born in Chicago, Illinois, on January 21, 1991. He grew up in Kuwait before moving back to the United States, California.
He is the son of Fouad Nassar and Iman Harby, owners of Diwan Interiors International, an architectural and interior design company based in Kuwait. He has been riding horses since he was five years old.
Nayel's parents are both from Egypt, and because of that, he has decided to represent Egypt in international equestrian competitions.
Education
Nayel attended the American School of Kuwait for his high school studies. In 2009, when he moved back to the States at 18, he enrolled at Stanford University to study Economics and Management. He graduated in 2013. He speaks three languages: Arabic, English, and French.
His passion for equestrianism began at a young age. Nayel had his first horse at the age of 10.
Family life
In Kuwait, Nassar grew up with a brother and sister, Sharaf Nassar and Carys Rees. His parents founded their Kuwait-based architecture and interior design firm in 1987 and have been running it since.
Although he's a well-known equestrian, Nayel's claim to fame is his marriage to Jennifer, the daughter of Bill Gates and Melinda French Gates. The couple's relationship began in 2017.
