How did Steven Seagal build his net worth?
Steven Seagal's built his fortune as one of the 1980s biggest action movie stars.
He started learning martial arts as a child, practicing aikido and Shito-Ryu karate. He spent many years in Japan and is reputed to be the first non-Japanese to open a dojo in Japan. He also started dojos in the US. He is a 7th dan and Shihan in aikido Aikikai. He has black belts in judo, karate, and kendo. Joe Rogan, an accomplished martial artist, called Seagal "a legit aikido black belt."
During the 1980s, he ventured into Hollywood, getting positions ad martial arts coordinator in "Never Say Never Again" and "The Challenger." In 1988, Seagal debuted in the film "Above the Law.' This movie’s success led to other offers. He acted in three films in 1990 and 1991, all box office successes. Seagal directed his first film in 1994.
"The Patriot" was Seagal’s first direct-to-video movie which he filmed and directed. He has continued to make these types of movies ever since. Steven Seagal has also acted in television series and has made two successful music albums.
He founded his business "Seagal Enterprises" in 2005 and endorsed various products, but most of his wealth has come from the movie industry.
