How did Glenn Beck build his net worth?
Glen started working at a radio station immediately after graduating high school. The station, KAYK, was located in Utah, but Beck only stayed for six months. After leaving KAYK, he settled into a position at WPGC in Washington, D.C.
Ever the roaming spirit, Beck left to work at another radio station in Texas and then in Kentucky. He had a show that held a four-hour slot on the weekday. It was generally pranks, commentary, impersonations, and the like. Unfortunately, the on-air rivalry with a local station got out of hand and he left in 1989. He bounced around for a few years at various stations but failed to gain traction in any city.
In 2002 he started his own show, the "Glen Beck Program," in Tampa, Florida. Despite not being popular in the past, his show quickly shot to first place. The show was syndicated nationwide in 2002, and by 2008 he was on 280 stations, including XM satellite.
By 2013, Beck had tied for listeners with Sean Hannity, Rush Limbaugh, and Dave Ramsey. He also appeared on Fox News and TheBlaze TV. After leaving Fox News, Beck was replaced in his 5 pm slot by "The Five," co-hosted by Jesse Watters, Jeanine Pirro, Greg Gutfeld, and Dana Perino.
His online subscription-based TV show pulled in about $40 million in the first year alone.
Beck is an author, having written more than 20 books, including several New York Times best-sellers.
