How did Rob Dyrdek build his net worth?
Rob Dyrdek's net worth has come from his career as a pro skateboarder, actor, reality TV star, and entrepreneur. He has cited the UFC's Dana White as his biggest inspiration.
Quitting school in Grade 11, Dyrdek moved to California, the skating hub of the US, where he closed his first sponsorship deal with DC Shoes. Dyrdek was one of the original skaters representing the brand and was the recipient of his first pro signature shoe called Dyrdek 1 in 1995. DC developed 29 signature model shoes for Dyrdek, which he promoted through his popular MTV series and to millions of his followers on social media.
He and “Big Black” Boykin, a musician and TV personality, teamed up for the reality TV series “Rob and Big,” aired by MTV from 2006 to 2008.
Dyrdek's exposure on MTV continued with “Rob Dyrdek’s Fantasy Factory” and “Ridiculousness.” His net for appearing in more than 530 episodes of “Ridiculousness” is said to be in the region of $140 000 per show, and each episode of “... Fantasy Factory” netted him $100,000 per episode.
Dyrdek is the founder of Dyrdek Machine, a venture studio that builds, invests, and advises consumer and media brands. In its first year of operation, the company invested in six new brands, “Street League Skateboarding” and “Superjacket Productions.”
He has also invested in a wide variety of successful businesses, including those in food distribution to numerous entertainment outlets. He can help you tie the knot, being an ordained minister of the Universal Life Church. Other celebrity ULC ministers include Conan O'Brien, Ben Cumberbatch, Ian McKellen, Lady Gaga, Sir Paul McCartney, Stephen Colbert, Dwayne Johnson, and Richard Branson.
No matter what I do, how much money I make, where I live, or what kind of car I drive, the stuff I skateboard on is the same stuff that every other kid in L.A., every kid in the country, everybody in the world is skateboarding on. ~Rob Dyrdek
